12th Nov 11 - Leamington B vs Copsewood B

It was another close game for Leamington B on Saturday as they took on Copsewood B. Knowing that Copsewood have had a similar start to the season as the B team , we knew this was an opportunity for our first win.

In the first quarter the teams were virtually neck and neck with Copsewood gaining just a 3 goal lead. Leamington were playing well with some lovely shooting from Sarah and Gemma, and some nice interceptions from defence.

In the second half Copsewood had some really strong moments, capitalising on any mistakes that Leamington made, combined with a really tall shooter who didn’t miss they managed to increase the gap between us.

The third & fourth quarter saw quite a few changes within the Leamington team due to injuries which was unfortunate but all of the girls stepped up to the challenge with Becky debuting as C and Hannah as WD.  We all felt that the final score didn’t reflect the game as some great netball had been played and the teams felt fairly evenly matched.  Though we didn’t win, the B team are definitely developing as a team and learning from each game we play.

The final score was 46 – 37 to Copsewood.

Many thanks to Sarah Steele & Sarah Hazel for playing for us.

A big thank you also to the army of Leamington supporters, and to Shelley and Ellie for giving us some half time coaching. It was all much appreciated!

Sarah Coles was player of the match.

Sat 15th Oct - Leamington B v Stockton A

On a sunny Saturday morning Leamington B took on Stockton A, Both teams started well with some good court play and feeds into the shooters, at the end of the 1stquarter Stockton had a slight lead, the score was 11-7 to them. Leamington decided to make no changes at this stage to try and give the players chance to gel. Stockton continued to play some decent netball and even though Sarah and Hannah were making it really hard for their shooters they still didn't miss, Leamington work hard to try and prevent Stockton but they ended up winning the 2ndquarter 9 - 6 , making the half time score20 - 13 to them

Leamington made a change at half time bring Ellie off and replacing her with Nikki Preston, it too Leamington a while to get used to the change, the defence continued to make it hard work for Stockton's attack but we could capitalised on this as our shots just wouldn't go in and once again Stockton's shooters didn't miss. The score at the end of the 3rd was 35 -21 to them.

Leamington made a further change in the last bringing Ellie back on at Centre, Nikki moved to GA and Sarah Coles went to GS, This combination seem to really work well and our shots were finally going in but not matter how hard we worked we couldn't stop Stockton's flow. All in all this was a much better performance from the B team. The final score was46 - 29

Thanks to Sarah Riley & Nikki Preston for coming and helping us out, you couldn't tell Sarah had been away for more than 2 years

Player of the match was Sarah Coles

Sat 1st October 2011 - Leam B v Highway A - Away

Saturday saw a newly formed B team and for many they were taking the court for the 1st time in the Prem League.

This was always going to be a tough task as it was the 1st time we had all played together, Leamington started slowly this was partly to do with A) finding our feet and B) the weather.  Highway played some lovely balls into their shooter during the 1st quarter and due to this Highway gain a lead and the score at the end of the 1st quarter was 12 - 5

Leamington made some changes in the 2nd quarter but this just seemed to unsettle us even more, things just weren't working in attack and even though our defence was working extremely  hard we could stop Highway pulling away even further.

The 3rd quarter was much the same as the 2nd but we did slightly pick up in the last. The Final Score was 47 - 21 to Highway

Thanks to Debbie Everard (D team) & Natasha Iredale (C  team) for playing half a game each before they then had to play their own game at 3pm. Also thanks to Tara for coming along to support
